SLJ – Art for Arts Sake

In the SLJ, one of todays activities is to make a silhouette of one of your family members! I decided to choose.. myself! I really liked this activity because I was able to be creative in the style I could go for. I ended up just doing my side profile. After I took the picture, I coloured it black!

What do you think?

Would you ever do this activity?

  1. Hi Emilee,

I think you have done a great job here. Did you draw this, how? It is really good. I would definitely give this a try. I like getting creative even though it’s not my strength. It is definitely something I enjoy doing.

Did you learn anything about silhouettes? Why did you choose to draw yourself?

I think this is the last task we have yet to comment on. So I look forward to hearing from you and seeing any of your new tasks

    1. Hi Theresa!

To draw this, I took a photo of myself and uploaded it on an empty google draw! I then used the tool ‘line’ and traced everything, and once I connected everything I used the ‘bucket’ tool to fill it in black.

I chose to draw myself because I was really interested in seeing how I would look like as a silhouette! I also learned that the word ‘silhouette’ states all the way back into the 18 hundreds!

      Thanks for commenting 🙂

      1. Hi Emilee!
Oh wow, that sounds like quite a process to do, but seems like you have mastered it! Ka pai!

You look awesome as a silhouette. Do you think you will try to do another silhouette drawing? Or even maybe try task 2?

That’s such an interesting fact! I never knew that, thanks for sharing!

        Ngā mihi,
        Theresa 🙂

        1. Kia Ora, Theresa!

I will definitely check out the Step It Up Activity/Task 2. I will try to get it published tomorrow. I can’t believe I taught you something new haha

Can you believe Christmas Eve is TOMORROW?! Take care and have a holly jolly christmas!

          From your friend, Emilee.

  2. Hi Emilee,

I am always learning something new, my year 5 and 6 constantly teach me things. 🙂 Well speaking of Christmas being tomorrow – I am replying to. you on Christmas eve listening to Christmas music. I won’t be online for a couple of days so I just thought I’d do one last check in before Christmas day. I will be back on Wednesday morning to check in for any replies if not sooner. So I am looking forward to seeing your new tasks and reading your comments.

Have a lovely day with your friends and family tomorrow,

    Merry Christmas
    Theresa
