Selfie Bomb

Earlier this month, we did a selfie bomb challenge to know our class better. This was a really fun activity because it helped me to learn information about a couple new kids in our class, and expand my knowledge on people I already know.

It was a challenge to get photos for some of the boxes because it was very specific. In the end, I filled up all the boxes and it was very fun! Next time, I would see if I could add more people in the last box, but other than that, I really like how it turned out.

Here is my selfie bomb;

Would you do this activity and why?

Cybersmart Challenge

In Room 9, our teacher has given us a quiz all about Cybersmart and the Kawa of Care.

This quiz really helped me refresh and improve on my Kawa of Care knowledge. I got 100% on my quiz which made me feel very accomplished.  I think its very important to know about the rules so that we can keep our devices safe. The most enjoyable part of this quiz was the fact I got to learn more.

Here is a screenshot of my accomplishment:

What do you think? Would you have completed it? Why/Why Not?

Top Teams NBC Visit

At NBC today, we were visited by the Top Team crew, and had an awesome morning!

To start the day, we (year 7/8s) were assigned teams based on their house colours. We were called leaders, and were in charge of our groups. They were mixed teams ranging from year 1s to year 8s. I was in Team 6 and was assigned Station 8 out of 12. Once everyone made it to their assigned stations, they buzzer sounded and we were off!

There were so many activities such as Naughts and  Crosses, Egg and Spoon race, Water games and more! We had roughly 7-10 minutes at each station to get as many points as possible! In the end, the winning team had managed to get 588 points! That team got awarded certificates.

Here are some photos of the morning taken by our teacher, Matua Nick.

Overall, this morning was definitely one to remember.

Have you had a visit by top trumps? If so, what was your favourite activity? and why And if not, why would you not want/want them to come?

Talofa Lava, Bloggers!

This is blogpost number 5 for todays marathon. I can’t wait until I am finished with these tasks because of how rewarding it will be.

For the RESPECT step it up, we had to make a logo or slogan about respect and talk about why we made it/why we chose that quote. I chose the infamous quote (also known as the golden rule) ‘Treat others how you want to be treated’.

This quote is very important to me because I have always believed that you should be kind to people no matter what. I really enjoyed this activity because it was a very quick one but with a lot of meaning.

Here is my logo:

Do you agree with this quote? Have you heard of it before?

Malo E Leilei, Bloggers!

This is part 4 of my SLJ Marathon. For the RESPECT activity, we looked at Tonga and what they wear as a form of RESPECT. Once we had read and watched some texts and videos, we got to make our own design.

We were given some photos that we could use to help guide our designs. I really enjoyed this activity because I got to look into Tongas culture and learn a lot of new things. This activity is definitely up there as one of my favourites.  Next time, I think I could have done more research and made a more intricate design.

Here is my design:

What do you think? What would you do differently?

SLJ Summer Styles Step-it-up

Annyeonghaseyo, Bloggers!

This is part 3 of my SLJ Marathon! I am having so much fun with the activities today. For my 3rd task, we had to make a drawing of some waves or summer themed photos and use colour contrast.

So far, this has been my favourite activity because I actually drew this time! I had so much fun experimenting with different colours and following the wave tutorial. Next time, I think I would use thicker pens so that the strokes would be bigger, but I am happy with using the thinner pens because it gave the effect of foam.

Here is my drawing:

What do you think? Have you ever gone swimming at the beach before?

SLJ Summer Styles Kick Start

Fakaalofa Lahi Atu, Bloggers!

This is part 2 of my SLJ Marathon. For the second blog post today, we are looking at colour contrast in the Summer Styles activity. (To explain colour contrast in the easiest way, it is basically where you put 2 opposite colours ‘together’ such as blue and red.)

I picked to do google drawings and for my word I chose my name! (Emilee). For the center piece (my name), I chose to do warm colours e.g red, yellow etc. with a cool coloured background.

I had so much fun doing this activity because I got to learn more about contrasting colours and using my imagination to create a cool art piece

Here is my google drawing:

Is there anything I could have done better? What is your favourite part of the artwork?

SLJ Groove Pizza Step-it-up

Talofa Lava, Bloggers!

Today I am doing a SLJ Marathon and trying to complete all the posts I have missed… In just one day! I will try to keep them high quality as well. So, to start off our Marathon, I am doing the Groove Pizza Step it up activity.

For this activity we had to make another beat/song, and then make an album cover for it! I love making google drawings, so this was a really fun activity. I also really liked making the beat because it challenged me to make totally different beats but make them blend together.

Here is my beat:

And here is my album cover:

What do you think? Have you ever made a song before?

SLJ – Groove Pizza

Buenos Dias/Buenos Noches, Bloggers!

This activity was all about getting into your groove! Using a site called Groove Pizza, I was able to create an awesome beat! There were 3 types of sounds you could include in your beat. I used all of them to create a unique piece of music.

I really enjoyed this activity because it helped me use my musical ear. Talking about musical ears, if you listen very closely to my beat, you can see that the beat slightly changes throughout the four 2 second beats.

Here is my beat:

What changes would you make? Can you hear the differences?

SLJ – Comic Step it Up

Bonjour, Bloggers!

Just like my previous post, I am doing the Comic Quest, but this time I am doing the Step-It-Up! For the step it up, you get to create your own story (not related to the beach) and pick your own background. My background was the city.

For this story, I made it about a man who lives alone and really wants a dog. He passes by a shop and finds the perfect one! But what happens? I loved creating this because it reminded me of my dogs and adopting them.

Here is my story:

What do you think? Would you change anything about this? Do you have any dogs?
